Holy Moly!

So, I met with two cush hotels this week to sell Uptown Hound's pet concierge services. Now, I know I made those services up, but I didn't know how good I made them up. Holy crap! I need some employees now! This is going to be great. You saw the brilliant work that ginagraphics.com did for us on our logo -- how cute is that? Now, I've got to quick pay her the balance first (she is reasonable, email her for your next project!), then get someone to print up the corporate collateral, t-shirts and bags for the walkers. OMG. T'his is a lot of stuff to do! But, it's so exciting. I've got to get online with vendors right now, because I'm supposed to open up shop in 2 hotels in Mid-town Manhattan on May 1! I would like to say again: "Holy Crap!" Anyway, more deep thoughts later -- I'm too excited to write any insightful blather now!

Okay, okay

I miss my Chicago life. Jen Smith. Erica Burnham. Doug Burns. Jewel Grocery Stores. The Montrose/Broadway Liquor Store. The Sheridan Park Public Library. Boystown. Halsted Street. Dennis, my landlord. Clean public transportation.

So, here's the logo I've chosen for Uptown Hound (with lots of input from you!). The brilliant, brilliant Gina at ginagraphics.com did it for me. I think I love her. How cute is this? (If you don't like it, you have bad taste, and I don't want to hear your opinion!)

Grand Opening will be May 15th (originally scheduled for April 15th, but then I realized that was tax day ... bad). You'll get an invitation. It's a catered affair, so dress appropriately, and bring presents.

That's all I got for now. Later.

Boom-shaka-laka-laka-boom-shaka-laka-laka-boom-shaka-laka-laka-boom!

Let me tell you what. If I have to put on pants and run down the stairs one more time tonight to tell someone to:

1) Close the SUV door; or

2) Turn down the radio

I'm going to jail for murder. What the hell? I'm going to work on my anger, and then post some good stuff later.

April 3, 2005

So, the FCC Presentation was a HUGE success. I spent an extra session on Saturday talking to the students about it, and am going to do another presentation in May for students from Stern. Big shakes! Most of this group were international students, which was interesting -- much more invested in the learning process than my American colleagues were when I was in law school. Privilege is deadly. Anyway, sadly, only one of them made it (no money) to the WOMMA conference, but he shared a good bit of information with the group that raised a bunch of questions re: legal and ethical issues and regulatory reform. Good, good, good stuff. I hope I keep the enthusiasm going -- it's just hard to come home after these things and not get caught up in the day-to-day, mouse-hunting, apartment-cleaning, dog-walking, business-starting work that I have to do.

In other news, my dog is the smartiest, partiest dog there is. Here's his new trick -- to get a treat, and also get to taste the chicken bones, he picks up the bone (yes, in his mouth. He's not THAT smart.) and then looks at me and spits it out, like, "Ptooey". Then, knowing he gets a treat for not eating the bone, he waits for me to give him one, since I've taken to carrying them in my coat pockets. (I can't say how many times I've reached in my pocket for my MetroCard and pulled out a Beggin Strip instead. Embarrassing.) This morning, he tried that trick with a rock ... and still got a treat. I am dumb.
